The Lebanese Real Estate Authority stated in a statement that it “has always warned against the dangers of the random and unplanned installation of solar energy systems, especially on the roofs of old buildings and outside the area of balconies.”
She stressed "the need for strict adherence to locally and internationally approved public safety standards when installing solar panels, in a manner appropriate to the climate and wind speed in Lebanon, and ensuring the safety of the roofs and their suitability to bear the weights and loads resulting from the panels and metal structures, and classifying these roofs according to clear engineering and professional frameworks and standards."
It called for "the mandatory implementation of installation work by specialized entities, qualified engineers and technicians, the use of installation equipment that conforms to approved technical specifications, and ensuring the quality and validity of the goods and materials used."
